Georgia residence permit processing time is something you buy rather than wait for. The Public Service Development Agency decides in 30, 20 or 10 days, and the fee rises at each step: GEL 300, 450 or 600 for most permits, and GEL 500, 750 or 1,000 for the IT permit.
Georgia residence permit processing time: when the clock starts
On a complete application, not on the day you walk in. A file missing a certified translation or an apostille is not complete, so paying for the ten-day option does not buy ten days if the office has to come back to you.
That is the usual reason a permit takes longer than the tier someone paid for, and it is within your control in a way the queue is not.
Which tier is worth it
Rarely the fastest one, in isolation. The difference between 30 and 10 days is GEL 300 for most permits, and twenty days matters mainly when something else is waiting on the card: a lease, a school place, a bank that wants to see the permit.
Where it does pay is at the end of a current permit. Renewing late turns the speed tier from a convenience into the thing standing between you and a gap in your residence, and a gap restarts the clock on permanent residence.
What takes longer than the decision
The documents before it. An apostille from your home country can take weeks and is outside Georgian hands entirely. Certified translation adds days. Those are the parts to start early; the decision itself is the predictable bit.
